Husk has introduced a new distributed energy resources (DER) platform powered by artificial intelligence, designed to supply reliable electricity to tens of millions of businesses, homes, and social institutions across the Global South by 2030.
New Delhi, Delhi Dec 21, 2025 – Husk has launched an AI-driven distributed energy resources (DER) platform aimed at providing modern electricity to tens of millions of businesses, households, and social institutions in the Global South by 2030.
Announced at the Africa Investment Forum (AIF), the “Powering Prosperity” platform was unveiled as Husk commenced its Series E fundraising round. The company seeks to raise $400 million in combined equity and debt to develop a minimum of 2 gigawatts (GW) of distributed solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) across South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030. Husk has already secured over $125 million and currently serves more than 2.2 million people in its core markets of India and Nigeria.
The DER platform targets three primary customer segments: communities, businesses, and households. Entire communities are powered by isolated or grid-connected minigrids, while commercial, industrial, and residential clients receive service through standalone rooftop or ground-mounted systems, offered either on a turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis or via power purchase agreements (PPAs). The platform will additionally cater to healthcare facilities and schools.
“As the acknowledged pioneer and global leader in community solar minigrids, Husk has transformed into an AI-powered DER provider for communities, households, and businesses. Our current operations and expansion in India and Nigeria perfectly embody this new strategic direction,” stated Husk CEO & Co-Founder Manoj Sinha. “This creates compelling new avenues for growth, allowing us to leverage nearly a decade of expertise for greater impact by deploying 2GW by 2030. It also affords us the adaptability to enter new markets with customized DER solutions tailored to each country’s specific needs.”
The foundation of the platform is a sophisticated digital infrastructure, described as Husk’s “central nervous system,” which utilizes both predictive and agentic artificial intelligence (AI).
To illustrate, Husk’s AI algorithms forecast energy demand precisely at each minigrid location. Subsequently, agentic algorithms manage the power-generating assets to fulfill this demand at the lowest feasible cost every half-hour. These cutting-edge algorithms work to reduce the cost of delivered energy, increase the share of renewables in the energy mix, and enhance customer service quality.
Husk’s growth strategy is set to bolster Africa’s shift to clean energy and support Mission 300, a World Bank and African Development Bank program targeting electricity access for 300 million people by 2030. The World Bank recognizes community solar minigrids as the most cost-effective method for providing initial electricity access to 380 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa. Husk’s platform will also contribute to the Indian government’s goal of establishing 500GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030.
As part of its new strategic focus, the company launched a .
