(SeaPRwire) – One more shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center has wrapped up, bringing with it a whole host of new patient cases, professional crossroads, and personal relationship snags that the beloved day shift team will have to try to sort out.
The second season finale of The Pitt wrapped on a bittersweet tone: the last few hours before Dr. Robby (portrayed by Noah Wyle) was set to depart on his three-month motorcycle road trip sabbatical left viewers guessing what his mental state will be when we catch up with him, after the planned four-month time jump between seasons. We also bid farewell to Dr. Mohan, as it has been confirmed that Supriya Ganesh is leaving the series, while Ayesha Harris has been upped to a series regular role playing senior night shift resident Dr. Parker Ellis.
On the upside, we got to watch Santos (Isa Briones) and Mel (Taylor Dearden) deliver an energetic cover of Alanis Morissette’s hit “You Oughta Know” during a well-deserved karaoke night out, so there’s no reason to be too disappointed.
Below are a handful of our very early predictions for Season 3, which is currently scheduled to premiere in January 2027 and has already been teased as an “explosive” installment.
There will be at least one injury tied to Thanksgiving celebrations
A blaze caused by a deep-fried turkey? A booze-fueled fight at a football game? A mishap while training for a Turkey Trot? Even though Wyle has confirmed Season 3 is set in November, right before Thanksgiving, it’s easy to imagine the series working in a holiday-themed accident, especially after we saw 15 hours of Fourth of July-related injury cases come through the ER doors. We might even get a patient who arrives with an entire raw turkey stuck on their head, in a nod to Joey’s iconic mishap in a classic Friends episode.
Conflict between Robby and Al-Hashimi will reach a boiling point

Dr. Robby and Dr. Al-Hashimi have a complicated dynamic. Though they got off on the wrong foot in Season 2, it looked like they had finally built mutual respect for each other by the end of Robby’s last shift before his sabbatical, even if their philosophies on practicing medicine still didn’t align. But once Baran told Robby about her seizure disorder, he threatened to report her condition to hospital leadership if she didn’t disclose it herself first. This move came off as hypocritical, given that Robby has been struggling with severe mental distress that directly puts his ability to work as a physician and a trusted leader for the ER team at risk. Both senior attendings need support, even if they refuse to acknowledge that fact. Four months later, we’d bet there is still unresolved tension between the pair that will need to be sorted out.
A flu outbreak will hit PTMC staff members
With the arrival of colder weather, and Wyle stating that the core theme of Season 3 is “doctors gain a lot from experiencing being patients themselves,” we think it’s very likely a seasonal illness such as the flu will leave multiple Pitt staff members unable to work mid-shift, forcing some of our favorite ER doctors to experience being on the receiving end of patient care for once. For Robby specifically, we’re hopeful that this plotline where doctors become patients will lead to him seeking out support from a mental health provider.
Javadi will make a name for herself as a rising talent in emergency psychiatry

On the topic of mental health providers, now that Javadi is planning to specialize in emergency psychiatry, we expect the Pitt’s standout resident student doctor to flourish as she keeps building a professional identity separate from her family ties. She already has a large audience of young people who seek out her medical guidance through her TikTok account, where she posts under the influencer moniker “Dr. J.”
Langdon will manage to earn back some goodwill with Santos

Santos wanted nothing to do with Langdon’s attempt to apologize to her earlier this season. But sooner or later, the two will either have to resolve their differences or face constant conflict at work. We’re optimistic that Season 3 will show Langdon taking responsibility for the harm he caused to Santos’ career, in a move that will win him at least a small amount of her respect back.
