GUANGZHOU, China, Dec. 10, 2024 — XPENG Motors (“XPENG” or the “Company,” NYSE: XPEV and HKEX: 9868), a leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, announced that its XPENG G6 electric coupe SUV received a five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).
This top rating reflects exceptional performance in adult and child occupant protection, vulnerable road user protection, and safety assist technologies. The G6 demonstrated excellent crash performance, achieving maximum points in side impact and oblique pole tests, thanks to advanced safety features.
The G6’s active safety systems also received high marks. Its autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system, covering car-to-car, vulnerable road users, and motorcyclists, performed exceptionally well. Its lane support and intelligent speed assistance systems further enhance safety.
The G6’s innovative structure contributes to its high passive safety standards. Utilizing China’s pioneering integrated front-and-rear die-casting technology, its high-strength aluminum frame (51% aluminum alloy) optimizes load distribution during impacts, minimizing intrusion and providing a lightweight, rigid body for enhanced occupant protection.
XPENG’s commitment to battery safety is evident in its use of cutting-edge technologies, including a no-thermal-runaway design, multi-layer thermal barriers, and a dual-circuit liquid cooling system, ensuring stability under extreme conditions.
This ANCAP five-star rating follows the G6’s September 2024 Euro NCAP five-star safety rating.
