PARIS, June 03, 2025 — WeRide, a global frontrunner in autonomous driving technology, is partnering with Renault Group, a premium Roland-Garros partner, for the second year running to deliver a Level-4 autonomous minibus shuttle service during the 2025 Grand Slam tournament on the famous clay courts.

The Robobus service’s return to Roland-Garros, one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, underscores the successful and ongoing collaboration between WeRide and Renault. The Robobus has proven its safety and reliability in dynamic, real-world scenarios since its debut last year, prompting both companies to extend their partnership for a second year.
The Robobus service covers 2.8km in 12 minutes, linking Avenue de la Porte d’Auteuil, Place de la Porte d’Auteuil, P1 Parking Carrefour des Anciens Combattants, and Village de Roland Garros. It operates daily from May 25 to June 8, 10.30am to 5pm, and 6pm to 8pm.
A new night service, introduced this year, runs from 10pm to midnight, providing greater convenience and expanded access for guests. The Robobus operates seamlessly even under complex nighttime conditions, especially in dimly lit urban environments with unpredictable vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic.
“We’re thrilled to be back at Roland-Garros with our valued partner, Renault Group, advancing our shared goal of commercializing autonomous mobility in Europe. The return of our Robobus service for a second year not only strengthens confidence in our technology but also demonstrates its readiness for real-world application,” stated Tony Han, founder and CEO of WeRide. “Europe is a crucial market in our global strategy. With our autonomous products licensed in five markets, including France, and commercial operations already in progress, we’re intensifying efforts to bring safer, smarter mobility to more cities across the region.”
“These autonomous electric minibuses and shuttles embody our vision of new public transport that is safe, smoother, more efficient, and more sustainable, serving the territories and their residents. Since we began these trials, we are no longer questioning whether society is ready for autonomous public transport; we are seeing that it already is. From Roland-Garros to Barcelona, via Valence, Renault and WeRide are demonstrating that autonomous mobility is no longer just a promise, but a reality,” said Patrick Vergelas, Autonomous Mobility Project Manager of Renault Group.
Through this shuttle service, WeRide and Renault Group are further solidifying their partnership as they pursue their shared ambition to expand autonomous mobility solutions across Europe. In March, the two companies launched Europe’s first fully driverless commercial Robobus deployment in France’s Drôme region, in cooperation with beti and Macif. The Level-4 autonomous shuttle began operations on March 10 at the Rovaltain business park – Valence TGV station in Drôme. During the same week, WeRide and Renault also conducted a Robobus trial service in downtown Barcelona from March 10 to 14, marking their first test of a Level-4 autonomous vehicle for public transportation in Spain.
WeRide’s Robobus is the world’s first pre-designed autonomous driving minibus to be commercially deployed on a large scale. Powered by WeRide’s comprehensive, self-developed autonomous driving system, it facilitates low-carbon transportation across urban roads, airports, resorts, tourist destinations, and more. To date, the Robobus has established a global presence in nearly 30 cities worldwide, including Singapore, Switzerland, France, China, and others.
