Sanya Sees Investment Surge Driven by Rapid Industrial Growth

SANYA, China, Feb. 26, 2025 — Sanya recently hosted the 2025 Investment and Project Promotion Conference, where city departments outlined plans for diverse sectors, aligning with Sanya’s role as an international investment hub.

According to the Publicity Department of Sanya Municipal Party Committee, Sanya, a key gateway for the Hainan Free Trade Port, is pursuing high-quality, tech-driven development. The city is evolving from a tourist spot into a modern coastal center focused on both tourism and innovation, attracting significant investor interest.

This is supported by the Free Trade Port’s open policies and a favorable business climate. Last year, Sanya successfully attracted investment, securing 25 fixed investment projects totaling 36.3 billion yuan and establishing 446 new foreign-invested enterprises worth 130 million USD. These include the China Tourist Group Sanya Bay Headquarters, the DFS Yalong Bay Project, and MFF, the first Maltese business in the Free Trade Port. Multinational corporations like Intel, Swire, and Zijin Mining have established operations, fostering robust industrial chains in areas like southern China seed breeding, deep-sea technology, modern business services, and high-end tourism consumption.

“We greatly value the Chinese market,” stated Colin McGregor, founder of Australia’s Biogenesis. He noted that the group established its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Sanya’s Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City three months ago. The proximity of research institutes and industries has facilitated its research and commercialization of microalgae and chlorella technology. McGregor is optimistic about the partnership with Sanya and plans to host a global microalgae forum in the city to strengthen ties in agriculture, biomanufacturing, and other sectors, aiming for mutually beneficial outcomes.

Currently, enterprise registration in Sanya’s key parks takes only three working days, with a corporate income tax as low as 15%. To support business endeavors, Sanya has launched a global investment service hotline (4009-520-520) to address inquiries from foreign-funded enterprises. Furthermore, a comprehensive International Service Zone has been created, consolidating resources from 16 departments and streamlining 25 procedures to assist overseas businesses and talent.
