NANJING, China, April 03, 2025 — The “Discovering the Charm of Jiangsu, Savoring the Beauty of China” international media tour took place from March 24-28. Organized by the “Charm of Jiangsu” Global Communication Center, the tour invited journalists from 15 leading international news organizations, along with photographers from four industry associations, on an in-depth exploration of Liyang, Yixing, Yancheng, and Xuzhou, all cities within Jiangsu Province in eastern China. Participants were given a first-hand experience of some of Jiangsu’s premier “China Travel” destinations.
Jiangsu is a significant economic and tourism hub in China. During the media tour, journalists and photographers investigated Jiangsu’s tourism sector through key sites highlighting ecological preservation, historical landmarks, and advancements in industry.
In Changzhou, journalists participated in tea harvesting, processing, and tasting. In Yixing, they observed the time-honored craft of creating Yixing Zisha teapots. In Yancheng, recognized as an International Wetland City, they gained an understanding of sustainable development. Their exploration of Xuzhou allowed them to discover ancient Han culture through Han Dynasty pottery figures.
HernĂ¡n Federico Russo commented, “Yancheng’s method for protecting milu deer is compelling, practical, and very important. I now deeply appreciate China’s continuous work and successes in ecological conservation.”
In 2024, Jiangsu Province hosted 2.657 million overnight international tourists, generating $3.39 billion U.S. dollars in foreign exchange revenue. China fully optimized its visa-free transit policy at the close of 2024, increasing the permitted stay for visa-free transit travelers to 240 hours (10 days). Subsequently, relevant Jiangsu departments have implemented two policies comprising 14 measures aimed at broadening inbound visitors’ access to tourism information and improving payment service convenience.
