XINGYI, China, Sept. 26, 2024 — The 2024 International Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Sports Conference, China’s premier summit dedicated to mountain tourism, commenced on September 26th in Xingyi City, Qianxinan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. At the opening ceremony, two significant research findings, Climate Change and Mountain Tourism Response Strategies and World Famous Mountains for Tourism – Recognition Standards, were unveiled, providing valuable scientific and practical guidance for the sustainable growth of global mountain tourism.
The conference has orchestrated three main events and a series of ancillary activities, encompassing the opening ceremony of the 2024 International Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Sports Conference along with the Asian Mountain Tourism Promotion Conference, the 2024 International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA) Annual Conference, and the 2024 Wanfenglin Hiking Event for 10-Thousand People.
Centered around the theme “Integrating Culture, Sports, and Tourism for High Quality Life”, this conference was co-hosted by IMTA and organized by the IMTA Secretariat and the People’s Government of Qianxinan Prefecture. Its objective is to explore innovative pathways for high-quality and sustainable mountain tourism development in the contemporary era through in-depth exchanges and collaborations, thereby invigorating mountain tourism with fresh vitality and momentum.
Close to 400 attendees graced the opening ceremony of the conference, including representatives from international organizations, tourism departments of relevant countries, institutions stationed in China, tourism-related enterprises, mountain tourism destination management agencies, industry experts and scholars, as well as media reporters.
