NANNING, China, June 10, 2025 — As China and Vietnam celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the “Year of China-Vietnam Cultural Exchanges” in 2025, Baise City in Guangxi, a region sharing cultural ties and a border with Vietnam, has been actively promoting cross-border trade and people-to-people exchanges. This past April, the Baise City government organized a series of accessible and engaging cultural exchange events. These initiatives aimed to foster greater understanding and friendship, particularly among younger generations, strengthen interpersonal connections, and garner broader public support between the two nations.
Baise’s Jingxi City hosted the 2025 China-Vietnam Border Residents’ San Yue San Festival Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition, drawing participants from Vietnamese regions like Cao Bang City, Trung Khanh District, and Ha Quang District, along with domestic and international tourists. The event featured over ten activities showcasing the ongoing friendship between the two countries. A highlight was the China-Vietnam Youth Folk Music Concert at Jinxiu Ancient Town, where young musicians from both nations performed “Vietnam-China” together. Additionally, the Egret Spring Scenic Area presented a “T-stage show” with traditional Jingxi Zhuang costumes and Vietnamese Ao Dai dresses against the backdrop of the area’s natural beauty. A specialty food exhibition highlighted Vietnamese coffee, Chinese tea, and local handicrafts, while an embroidered ball-tossing competition saw friendly participation from young people using Jingxi’s Jiuzhou Ancient Town-made balls.
Tianlin County, also in Baise, welcomed an art troupe from Vietnam’s Cao Bang Province to perform at the opening gala of the 2025 Tianlin Zhuang Opera Festival. Their performances of “The Road Home” and “Gazing at the Moon, Thinking of You” brought Vietnamese folk culture to the audience, creating a blend of Zhuang mountain songs and Vietnamese melodies.
Napo County in Baise recently held the 2025 Guangxi San Yue San ยท Napo Xiangdan China-Vietnam Border Residents Gala. Artists from both countries collaborated, with Vietnamese performers showcasing the “Ao Dai and Conical Hat Dance” and other programs reflecting their unique ethnic heritage. Beyond the gala, Napo County also organized a China-Vietnam Border Football Invitational Tournament, mountain song performances, and other engaging activities to encourage interaction between residents from both sides of the border.
Baise aims to leverage its geographical and cultural advantages to further enhance China-Vietnam cultural exchanges and cooperation. The city seeks to continuously strengthen the bond between the two nations and contribute significantly to advancing China-Vietnam people-to-people relations.
