SHENYANG, China, July 16, 2025 — The Second China (Shenyang) Comedy Film Week, celebrating “Joy in Liaoning, Laughter on Screen,” concluded in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, on the evening of July 12.
The film week featured key events such as the “Brilliant Chinese Cinema Tour,” comedy film screenings, a roadshow and matchmaking event for comedy film scripts, and a seminar on the development of Chinese comedy films. Accompanying activities like “Savoring Cuisine through Films” and “On-Screen Journeys” further highlighted the connection between Shenyang and Chinese comedy, providing a shared comedic cinematic experience.
The film week, known as “People’s Laughter,” gathered over 100 movie fan clubs and nearly a million film enthusiasts nationwide for fan-driven recommendations. Following a stringent selection process, the award-winning comedy films officially released and broadcast domestically from early 2023 to May 1, 2025, were revealed at the closing ceremony. The film Successor received accolades, including “Comedy Film Recommended by Movie Fan Clubs”.
The event was co-hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee, the Shenyang Municipal People’s Government, and other entities, and organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenyang Municipal Committee. The film week seeks to enhance cultural originality by exploring and promoting comedic culture, stimulate high-quality development in the film industry, boost Liaoning’s cultural influence, cultivate Shenyang’s unique cultural identity, establish a model zone integrating culture, sports, and tourism, and empower Liaoning’s development as a leading cultural province.
