The update, rolling out starting January 2, 2025, provides advanced intelligent driving features, upgraded safety systems, and personalized options for its worldwide user base. This launch reflects the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and user-centric enhancements in AI-powered transportation.
Multilingual Voice Control
The update expands the XPENG Assistant’s capabilities to include voice control in multiple languages: English, French, German, Cantonese, and Thai. This feature enhances accessibility for drivers and passengers globally, providing intuitive control over navigation, vehicle settings, and media.
AI Guard System
XOS 5.4’s “AI Guard” system significantly enhances vehicle safety. Sentry Mode, for example, monitors and records any suspicious activity near the parked vehicle, such as unusual movement or lingering, sending alerts to the user’s XPENG app. The Driving Recorder captures real-time footage of driving events, storing important video for later review (Note: This function is temporarily unavailable in some areas due to regulatory requirements).
Advanced Smart Driving Features
Improved smart driving functions include Smart Speed Limit Recognition, which identifies and displays road signs such as “No Entry” and off-ramp indicators, promoting safer driving habits.
Enhanced Personalized Operating System 2.0
The update also features the upgraded Personalized Operating System 2.0, offering multitasking split-screen functionality and greater customization options for infotainment layouts via the XDock system.
X-Combo Automation
The new X-Combo feature automates routine in-car actions, such as engaging child safety locks upon shifting into drive, streamlining daily driving.
Redesigned Charging Visuals
Charging visuals have been enhanced with a visually appealing northern lights-inspired animation to show charging progress. The driving range display has been updated to align with NEDC standards for greater accuracy and global user accessibility.
This update ensures full compliance with European data protection rules. XPENG emphasizes its dedication to data privacy and security, adhering to EU regulations, including GDPR, and maintaining ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications. EU user data is stored securely in AWS’s Frankfurt data center, with any data transfers outside the EU following approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). These practices are overseen by XPENG’s Information Security and Data Compliance Committee and a dedicated EU Data Protection Officer, with transparency ensured via its Connected Vehicle Privacy Notice.
