Hong Kong Brand Shopping Center to Open in Chengdu, Leveraging Railway Port Advantage

CHENGDU, China, July 08, 2024 — On July 4th, Qingbaijiang District of Chengdu and Hong Kong’s SOW Capital Limited signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly build an international brand shopping center with a total investment exceeding 3 billion yuan.

The project will feature a park-style megaplex offering an immersive and experiential shopping experience. It will include flagship outlets for brands in fashion, cosmetics, apparel, food, and more, primarily from Germany, France, and Italy. The center will also host a selection of luxury brands such as Prada, Gucci, and Ferragamo, along with snacks from Southeast Asia, the rest of Europe, and the Americas.

The international brand shopping center project will complement the surrounding region’s cultural and tourism resources, including the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Sanxingdui in Guanghan, Chengxiang Ancient Town, and others. The goal is to create a comprehensive business and tourism system where visitors can benefit from each other’s presence.

Hong Kong’s SOW Capital Limited selected the Qingbaijiang Port Area of the China (Sichuan) Pilot Free Trade Zone in Chengdu due to its strategic location as the starting point of the CHINA RAILWAY Express (Chengdu) and a major gateway for China’s opening-up efforts. The area is known for its geographical advantage, port growth potential, robust consumption, well-developed transportation infrastructure, and suitability for the “port + business circle” development model.

Chengdu is actively working to position itself as an international gateway and hub city. Since 2024, Chengdu’s international railway has completed nearly 30,000 departures, connecting it to 112 cities abroad.
